About
RED STAGGERWING began with one simple bag — a creative spark that turned into something much more. Looking for a fresh outlet to explore her love of fabric, founder Lisa DeMio stitched together a messenger bag. Just like that, she was hooked. Word spread, and soon friends, family, and curious market-goers were asking for bags of their own.
What started at local New Hampshire craft fairs has grown into a thriving online shop and a collection carried in stores across the U.S. More than fifteen years later, Red Staggerwing is still grounded in the same principles: thoughtful design, everyday function, and handcrafted quality. Today, Lisa works alongside a small, all-women team in a sunny New Hampshire studio, where every piece is made from start to finish with care and intention.
Each design is influenced by Lisa’s Scandinavian heritage, a deep appreciation for natural materials, and a love of vibrant, practical beauty. The studio’s limited-edition collections feature hand-printed linen, waxed canvas, leather, and cotton — sourced with intention from independent makers and suppliers. Durability matters, but so does soul.
Whether it’s a spacious tote, an everyday messenger, or a compact travel kit, Red Staggerwing bags are made to be both useful and unique—blending everyday function with bold, beautiful design.
Lisa still spends most of her time in the studio, dreaming up new designs, experimenting with color, and sharing what’s new online.
